I use a notebook at work and at home.

Both locations have a dhcp server.

I use an app at home that requires port forwarding to a specific ip address.

How can I keep the ip address constant in my notebook for the at home app?

Can I specify it in the alt config?

Thanks.

Yes. That's what I do on my son's laptop. For school he has a static IP
in a subnet that is different from the one I use on my home network. At
home, all IP's are dynamically assigned via DHCP. So go ahead and set
up your alternate configuration. The only disadvantage is that you'll
need to wait about 30 seconds for the first configuration to time-out;
then it will switch to the second configuration. This is not really a
big deal.

Otherwise, there are third-party multi-network managers:

http://www.netswitcher.com - NetSwitcher
http://www.globesoft.com/mnm_home.html - MultiNetwork Manager
http://www.mobilenetswitch.com - Mobile Net Switch
