Hi

in Win2000 Professional, I used to be able to first press the ALT button, then the TAB button and then the little task switching popup screen showed up. Then, I could take as much time as I wanted to 'stay' on one icon inside the popup screen while the ALT button stays pressed... after a second or two I could simply press TAB to move to the next icon in the popup screen until I've found what I've looked for. Then, I'd release the ALT button and control would be given to the window that corresponded to the icon I stayed on last in the popup screen

In XP Pro, if I don't move through the different icons quickly to the one I want, control is passed on to the icon I happen to stay on for a few milli-seconds. This is really annoying... isn't there a way I can get the old behavior back ? I can't even grasp the different icons in the popup screen that quickly

Thanks for any help

This does not happen here, so if you did not change any very special
settings you may want to check the keyboard.

Thank you, you are right... I have a laptop with USB ports and if I use the laptop build-in keyboard, everything is as expected. Now, once I connect the USB-to-PS/2 connector to the laptop and the keyboard to the PS/2 connector, I do experience these issues (and others). They keyboard itself is unchanged from what I've been using with my old laptop and it's PS/2 connectors, it's standard IBM keyboard and a Microsoft mouse

I guess there is a reason for a special USB keyboard vs. using the USB-to-PS/2 adapter
