Alt-Tab problems

I use Alt-Tab to switch between windows. A few days ago, it quit
working. Instead of switching windows, Alt-Tab would produce a list
of hotkeys.

It became hard to switch windows. Even clicking on the taskbar tabs
was problematic. Clicking on the tab for a background document would
cause the tab to flash orange for awhile, which would seem to be an
alert of some kind; then, once the flashing quit and the tab was a
steady orange, another click would minimize the window; and at that
point another click would restore the window and bring it to the front
so you could work in it.

This was such a problem that we were about to reload windows vista---
but suddenly things went back to normal.

Can anybody say what caused the problem, and what we should do about
it next time?

I suspect that one of your keyboard keys was stuck, probably the Alt key.

That's not it. Doesn't matter which keyboard we use.

It turns out not to be a Word problem. It's the same in other
programs.

I had this exact same problem start yesterday. At first, I thought it
had something to do with mIRC because bringing the mIRC window in front
of firefox browser windows seemed to be the most problematic.
I finally rebooted and everything seems to be working again. It's
probably a bug with Vista.

Hello mIRC user. I recommend you install the NNCRIPT script on a fresh
installation of mIRC. It makes it much better! I've been using it for a
few years now, and cannot stand mIRC without it.
