I've tried many of the suggestions on this board to gain access to my data
My machine (XP HE) kept turning back on after shutdown; my roommate did a hard shutdown a few times. Now my main profile is corrupt. I'm unable to transfer profile date or gain access to data. I've tried the cacls option but didn't understand how to use it, so nothing happened there. I've tried taking ownership, removing disk caching, and going into the cmd prompt to access the files, to no avail. It was suggested that I pull the drive and slave it in another machine, which woudl allow me to get access to the files
(1) will this work
(2) what other options do I have
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
