Are there any fans of driving games in the house? I've been playing
Call of Duty for over a week and loving it but decided to install NFS
Underground just to get it installed and running. That's all I was
going to do. I was going to go back and finish CoD since I'm about ¾
of the way through. Hah! I can't stop playing NFS-U. This thing
KICKS ASS! Once you get by the early stages and finally get some
engine and handling upgrades, it's a riot! Crank up the Logitech
Z-560's and let 'er rip!
I'll have to say I've been a NFS fan since High Stakes tho. You
gotta like driving games. I just use the keyboard. Control is fine.
At first, the graphics look candied up, but they're gorgeous actually.
Using 9600Pro, 1024x768, most things turned up. (there's a ton)
I've played it for hrs. and never a crash.
Welp, back to the races. Just thought I'd give a little heads-up.

Yep a good game played it a 1280x1024 on my 9700pro using cat3.9 with all
the graphics maxed out. Well didn't take to long to finish even playing all
the races on the hard setting.

I too am a fan of the NFS games. If you love it just using the keyboard,
I'd strongly recommend splurging on a wheel and pedals, it makes the games a
lot more realistic and enjoyable!

Interesting comments, thanks for posting. I'm still playing Hot Pursuit 2
on a semi-regular basis and am near the bottom of the trees in the
Championship and Hot Pursuit modes (I usually just play single races). I
found that the steering wheel control in Hot Pursuit 2 really sucks compared
to previous games in the series (I've played all of them), so I'm just using
a gamepad. I hope NFS Underground is improved in this respect. I look
forward to buying this latest iteration in the series sometime after
Christmas. Graphics don't concern me as much as gameplay does, but I'm glad
to hear that the new game is running fine with the latest set of Catalyst
drivers!

NightSky, I can't get NFS HP2 to run. It was ok on my previous
8500LE but since I upgraded to the 9600pro it no worky. I've tried
different cat's up to 3.7 (don't see why 8's or 9's would be any
better), tried uninstalling and re-installing, swept the registry n
stuff. What happens is that when it gets to the Profile screen, it
locks. Every time.
What are your specs. Have you had any problems?
Does anyone else have any input?

try the game's latest patch (242 beta), it helped me, plus I recall I
did a full uninstall, one of those AR every-nook-and-cranny uninstalls
of the old drivers before I did the cats...

that game was a buggy mf'er, but I updated several catalyst versions
after that and use the current now, and the game still runs (9700 pro)

Sorry to hear of your difficulties in getting Hot Pursuit 2 to run. It's
been working great for me since the Catalyst 3.1 days, and I've used every
driver set since then without difficulty. Mind you, I've also done a couple
of OS re-installs this year. :-) No particular reason except that I'm
fussy about keeping the system "clean" and don't like updating drivers
multiple times in the same OS install. BTW, I do all of my gaming under
Windows XP Pro with SP1a.

The vital (but not complete) specs of my computer are...
Pentium 4C at 2.8GHz
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro (version 1) motherboard
1GB of Kingston CAS3 PC-3200 RAM (2x512)
Built-by-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1 sound card

No overclocking.

Try Bob's suggestion of downloading the latest beta patch. I've never
installed any patches for Hot Pursuit 2, but it could be the difference
between you getting the game to run or not. I also wonder if your system is
still seeing your old video card. It's also vital that you have all of the
latest drivers for your hardware installed, particularly the motherboard
chipset drivers. Also you might want to try some of the compatibility modes
if you're running Windows XP. I'm not at all adverse to the idea of
formatting my hard drive and re-installing my operating systems, but it
could be a last ditch thing to try. Most people don't like going through
that so hopefully you can resolve the problems without having to go that
far. You could also try EA's tech support. Good luck with this, I hate to
see problems with games not running.

Can you tell me, does it have a Toyota Supra?
