Is there a listing somewhere that we could download and print (alphabetized)
all the letters used in these pages so we dummies can have the list beside
us and know what you guys are talking about when you go off on the alphabet
soup tangents? GUI, HTML, P2P, XUL, W3C, etc, etc? I can't be the only one
who needs this list.

www.onelook.com can't be printed out, but it's very fast and comprehensive.

Thank you for the response (I think).

Little confused about the last paragraph. I wanted information to help
understand some of the jargon used in *alt.comp.freeware* and is this an
implication that it shouldn't be asked here? How can that be off topic when
I'm asking about things in alt.comp.freeware?

Thank you but not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for
a simple list of the most common acronyms, IE: a page or so,
maybe 2 - 3 columns that I can have in front of me without going
to a program to find it.

You might consider making your own list in notepad and print it out.
What is a 'common' acronym to me, might not be to you.

luck to you

Is it about freeware?

You may be right. Guess, being lazy, I was hoping someone else already had
one.

YES, IT IS, as far as I'm concerned. I asked about things happening here.
I wouldn't ask about things in alt.comp.freeware over in a microsoft forum,
would I? With the utter junk I see here and a legitimate question is out of
line? I feel you "purists" carry this subject nonsense to extreme.

Did you actually try AcronymGenie, Glenn.

I felt you have a good point, I use online acronymfinder, but have a dialup
account that is only "free" ie prepaid at certain times.

So I d/led acronymgenie and IMO it's pretty good - as you say, a bit heavy,
but easily searchable, and always available.

I'm keeping it

I think he meant to Just put the [OT] in your header.
Don't worry about it. You have questions, we answer them.

The last paragraph was under "-- ", which means that it's part of my
signature, so don't take it personally. It's general advice to
everyone, not just you. Your question was perfectly on topic.

Decent newsreaders, like Xnews or even Outlook Express with
OE-Quotefix, have different coloured text for signatures and quoted
text.

It does look good and I downloaded it. If nothing else, I can jot down
acronyms as I see them and make a list as Keith suggested via a cut and
paste into (dare I say it? [g]), WordPerfect.
