Alpha Listing by Last Name in Address Book

Despite all my efforts to sort through help menus, etc.,
I can't figure out a way to have my contacts sorted by
LAST name, then first in the Address Book listing. My
Contacts folder looks fine for this, but when looking up
an address from within "New Message," all I get is a list
of contacts listed by first name.

When I try to change the display order in the Address
Book options, this option isn't available.

Any suggestions, tips?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Your Outlook version would be nice to know.

Depending on your version and mail support mode of Outlook, you can sort the
Outlook Address Book this way (check for your mode on the second line of the
Help menu > About):

97, 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order

98/2000 Internet Mail Only:
Tools menu > Address Book > View menu > Sort by

Outlook 2002:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Sorry about that . . . it's Outlook 2002.

Thank you! Your suggestion worked. It is certainly a
devil of a counter-intuitive approach dreamed up by MS.
If you follow their own instructions for doing this, they
don't even hint at your "back door" approach.

Thanks again.

Jeff
