Aloha Karen,
It's me, Kenneth.
I've been up all night working on my taxes,
and have gotten my first pass thru the
federal 1040 using TaxCut. Things seem
to be looking up. Unless I made a whopper
of a mistake (which unfortunately I could
have), it looks like I overpaid and will get a
refund.
I'm just not sure of the details. TaxCut gave
me some funny numbers while I was trying
to input the rental income.
It didn't do depreciation, so I have to look at
it again to see why, after I've had some sleep.
And it looked like it kept wanting to add the
mortgage from the rentals to my deductions,
or something like that.
Plus, it looked like it wasn't dividing into thirds
all the things it ought to.
Hope I'm wrong about those.
Still have to do the City of Lansing, State of Michigan,
and State of Hawaii Non-Resident income taxes;
but those should be easier.
Maybe I won't close my 401(k) account this year.
If I do a cash withdrawal loan on my credit card,
I can wait until next year to close the account, and
put off the income taxes and penalty tax for a year.
I think. I need to read the fine print on that credit
card "check" offer.
Oh, well. Time to sleep.
Aloha,
