Allowing friends' to download from my machine (and vice versa)

Hello, folks. I'm looking for a small program that would allow my friend(s)
to connect to certain folders on my laptop and download at will. I found
AjooBlast, and I really like it, but it doesn't allow any transfers, only
accessing. Ideally, this program would also allow them to upload to a
specific folder on my machine. Any ideas?

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, though, I don't think it'll work for me,
if I'm correctly understanding this text from their Web site correctly: "If
you connect to internet via LAN, your website can only work on the LAN and
the resource you shared can only be visited by users on the LAN." I'm on a
university LAN.

I approached this program with caution, but it's really exceeded my
expectations. It's a big of a pain to set up (and there's no manual
whatsoever, that I saw), but once you get it there, you're good. All in all,
I think I've found the one.
