I am a novice and have been following the help directions. These are
standalone laptop & desktop. My profile is administrator. I have not figured
out how to cause hese buttons to be accesible. When I create a new web, the
address isn't http, it is still c:\. Any assistance is appreciated.

Which version of Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 Pro installed with IIS and the FP extensions, and
you have to create the website under IIS MMC, not from within FP when working with a web server.

Dear Switchead,
Can you please paraphrase Mr. Rowe's comments. I got part of it, but the
abreviated grammar makes it difficult to confidently follow. I gather one
needs to go to Control Panel and install IIS service IIS, correct?
Can you offer any other tips re this “Allow scripts to run†feature?
Thanks!

Since you have snipped the original posts no one will probably know what you are referring to

Thanks nonetheless for you tip.

No - I, and many others, read these posts through newsreaders. Some
users set their newsreaders to delete read posts, expecting the
previous post to be quoted, as is normal newsgroup etiquette.

*I* will never use the Microsoft forums interface - too much hard
work.

Ah, that information helps; thank you! In any event, I'm still striking out
with the technical problem of how to "un-gray-out" the Allow Scripts or
Programs to Run in FPage 2003. I've tried installing (downloading & running
the *.exe) IIS 6.0 Resources Kit Tools with no luck; apparently not quite
what the Add/Remove Program utility is looking for. (It can't find a
particular *.dll file, neither can the Windows Search utility find it
anywhere on the sytsem disk.)

Perhaps the IIS indeed needs to be loaded from the Windows installation CD.
If it can be loaded from the Microsoft web site, can any one possibly
recommend exactly which file needs to be loaded, and any specific
installation instructions in order to ultimatley get FPage 2003 to see it and
allow operation of "Scripts or Programs?"

Thanks tons!

Ronx,
As one of the many readers, may I comment.

I "stumbled across" the newsgroups some time ago and then found out how to
use a newsreader (OE).
But this didn't train me in "netiquette". I have picked up what netiquette I
do have as I go.

If you have a large number of posts to read, I suppose you would set the
newsreader to delete read posts. But what I do is read (or at least scan)
all new posts every day - up to 200. I delete only those which I am not
interested in or which have reached the end of their line, at least for me.
(I move those of permanent interest to another folder.)

So all posts in an active thread remain there, whether they have been read
or not. I find it doesn't clutter my newsreader too much, as the active
threads are contracted into groups. And the group is highlighted when new
responses occur in a contracted group.

But, each to his own. My way won't be everyone's way.

Open the IIIS MMC and select your web / folder - properties

Trevor,
I keep all posts for three months, then delete them, but hide those I
have read. I find it very inconvenient to have to show read items
(since there are thousands) to find a previous post, and then get back
to where I was in the un-read posts. That last bit is the hard bit,
since IE pushes you to the end of the list and marks that post as
read.
As I said, others delete posts as soon as they are read.
