I could swear that in the old days, I could do this, butr here is what
happened today"...
I am trying to just compare two presentations that I know are very similar.
In fact, I suspect there may be no change. In previous versions of
PowerPoint, I ws able to select Tools->CompareAndMergePresentations and get a
decent (though not always great) comparison. Now, when I try that feature
with either file, I am told "FILENAME.ppt is a copy of your presentation that
contains a reviewer's changes. To compare the changes with the original,
open the original presentation and then merge the reviewer's copy into the
original."
I don't even have the original of this file. I have tried turning on the
ReviewingToolbar so that I can "AcceptAllChanges" in one version or the
other, but neither version even shows any changes whatsoever! PowerPoint has
taken a sad step backwards with less flexibility.
GIVE ME A BASIC COMPARISON capability that doesn't care who sent whom
email!!!!! The value of comparing two similar PowerPoint files cannot be
overestimated! In fact, I often resort to a linux-based 'cmp' just to be
sure two files are identical, but I know that PowerPoint could handle
comparisons so much more elegantly!
