Please add a category to the "Show time as:" field on Outlook Calendar that
allows individuals to make their own notes to a calendar, but that will not
show up as blocked time.

I know that you can mark something private, I also know that I can show time
as free, but why can't I create a post-it to a day as a reminder to do
something or to track my work hours.

If you have ever tried to schedule a meeting with multiple people, you
realize that people block time on their calendars just to remind themselves,
by time, that they need to do something or go somewhere. Also if they share
their calendars with private items, these times are blocked and the meeting
organizer would not likely schedule over it. It would help me who likes to
stay organized, but would give latitude to those who are scheduling the
meetings around my work schedule. I know some people just block time on
their calendar to appear busy at many meetings, but when they are really
working on tasks at their desks. These people claim that everyone should
just schedule whatever they want on their calendar, blocked or not. That is
fine when it is only their calendar, but how does a meeting organizer know
this and why should they have others screaming who have legitamate meetings
that can not be changed. It just creates a lot of havoc that is not
necessary. So please give us the opportunity to post-it, to show we are
available for meetings, and to stay organized.

Please vote to make this happen!!!

Use Tasks! They are for things to do that are not tied to a specific
time.

Thanks for your suggestion and I am familiar with Tasks, but my suggustion is
that I want it tied to a time schedule! I am working with my work schedule,
my personal schedule, and in the moment most of the time being asked to
attend another meeting or working on a schedule weeks/months ahead. I do
have a family calendar separate from my calendar for the non-work hour
schedules. My point is that people use their calendars to remind them and to
keep them focused on many tasks and the time it will take to do something,
thus they block out or confuse others looking at their shared calendar.

From your description of what you want,. I can still do it with Tasks -
you just have to adjust the settings.
