Allow different users to see only their information in the databa.

I am combining mulible databases into one data base and would like to have
users only see and edit that information that pertains to them, and allow
managers full access to all information in the database

How does the data pertain to an individual? By records or by tables? If it's
by records, is there a field that you can use to determine who can see it?
Also, is this an mdb or an adp?
