Hi,

I almost always get a bar appearing just below my address bar, with a
warning sound that tells of blocked content. unfortunately, this is only
harmless javascript in a webpage. i've looked in tools / settings on all
the settings, and i always allow javascript. is there any other way to
disable this warning to appear?

thanks..

Hi Giovanni :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

It may be your Popup blocker warning, or the Information Bar:

The popup blocker that is installed with XP SP2 is simple to turn on and off
and is turned on by default. It displays down in the status bar of IE, and
a simple right click gives you the option to enable/disable the blocker. One
nice feature is that you can enable/disable popups for certain sites rather
than just arbitrarily enable or disable them for all sites.

Open IE and go to Tools>Internet Options>Security>Popup Blocker Settings tab
There will be a window to enter the address of the site you want to allow
popups for, enter the website
Click Add
OK out

See if that allows the necessary popups for your site. If not, try setting
the Filter level to Medium

also...

To turn the Popup blocker off:
1. Open IE>Tools>Security.
2. Unheck the box next to "Block popups"
3. Close and OK out

To turn the sound off only,

1. Select "Pop-up Blocker Settings".
2. When the "Pop-up Blocker Settings" dialog box appears, uncheck "Play a
sound when a pop-up is blocked".
3. Press "Close" to close the dialog box and OK out.

If it's the Information Bar, you can do the following to allow content to

Tools > Internet Options> Advanced
Scroll down to Security
Switch on: Allow active content to run in files on My Computer
You may need to do the same for CD's.

also....

Hope this helps.

Hi Jan,

it turns out that it IS the information bar. I disabled the popup blocker,
but the information bar still comes up every time there's a javascript file
that needs to load on the page. The warning is "... restricted this file
from showing active content.... click here for options". right or left
clicking on the bar only gives me the choice of a one-time allow, or the
help file. I'm really at a loss as to how to turn this off.
