when i click on start and all programs I notice that I am into a second row
of programs listed on my screen, what I want to know is, is there any way to
tide this up for example I have an epson scanner and there are 4 different
short cuts listed for this device going to scanner pannel, scanner help,
manual and so on at the same time I have jet audie which has one listing
when I hold my mouse over this one it expands to to show 4 more shortcuts.
can I set up the same thing forthe epson thus maging 4 slots on the page into
one.

Right-click on the Start button and select Explore.

You now have an Explorer window, and you can remove duplicates. You
can also, VERY usefully, create new folders and group your program
shortcuts in them.

At any point, LEFT-click the Start button and look at the resulting
menu to see if it's as you like it.

Once you've got things squared away, close he Explorer window.

At any time in Stat Menu, you can left-click and drag any item to
change the order permanently. You can also right-click and select
"Sort by name", which affects only the submenu that's currently
visible.

Right click on All Programs and select "Explore All Users" from
the menu.
In the left hand column, click on Programs.
Right click an open spot in the right hand pane and select
New -> Folder.
Name this folder Epson.
Drag the four shortcuts for your Epson scanner into this
folder.

If you want to further reduce the clutter on your Start Menu,
create folders for some of the other software you have
installed on your computer.

Good luck

Yes, there are several ways. If you installed the programs for 'all users',
then the [Start] 'All Programs' contents are listed in your System drive in
a folder (if your system drive is C:) located at
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

You can organize the programs and folders using Windows Explorer, or, and
easier:

Left Click on [Start]
Right Click on the offending program or folder
Left Click on [Open] on the drop-down menu

'Move Items' will open
Left Click on the folder to which you wish to move the offending Programs
and/or Program folder
(Or you can Left Click on 'Make New Folder to create a new folder.)

This will let you clean up and organize your 'All Programs' menu.

There are three or more locations under C:\Documents and Settings where the
'Start Menu' 'All Programs' folders appear. Depending how the programs were
installed, their listing will appear in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\All Programs\
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Start Menu\All Programs\
and
a C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Start Menu\All Programs\
location for each user defined.

When you Left Click on the Start Button, then Left Click on 'All Programs',
then Right Click on the offending programs and/or Right Clicking on the
offending programs or folders in the 'All Programs', then choosing 'Open',
you will be pointed to the correct '...\Start Menu\All Programs\' folder.
