all programs have .lnk ext

I was doing a Nortan update when the system froze. When I repowered every
program now had a .lnk extension and didn't run. Even commands under RUN do
not work. I tried to recover to last know good point in Safe mode but this
did not work either. I have done a Home XP system repair. This also appears
to have done nothing everything is still a .lnk

I went to the site you suggested and copied all of the ext fixes to a disk
(used my working machine) the problem is when I try to run the Zip floders
reg fix it won't run or open. I can open the reg edit like the note idicated
but not sure what to do when I get there.

Download this :

Extract the reg file. Open Regedit, Click File | Import and import the reg file.

Then run this :

M;\xp_regfile.zip:The specified file is not a registry file. you can import
only registry files

When I try to extract this file it comes back and say" unable to create the
folder XP_regfile access denied.
