All pages stalling

Everytime I go to a website site, the status bar at the
bottom right hand corner gets full, and the page gets
done loading, then I get the hourglass and it wont go
away , and then the page stops responding until i click
the minus or somewhere else on the screen and then it all
goes away. Im sure its probably a virus or someother kind
of bug?
