All of my games stopped working at the same time.....

i bought a dvd drive yesterday and hooked it up to install Half Life 2
episode one for my bro. it worked fine for like 6 or so hours, then my bro
tells me that the game won't start, so i reboot the comp and try again, only
to find that it still doesn't work. then i tried other steam games... they
didn't work...... so i tried all my other games (BF2, Need for Speed Most
Wanted, Black and White 2, Doom 3, Full spectrum warrior....) and they didn't
work either. i get a series of mixed error messages from all the games. for
instance i might run BF2, and it'll say "make sure that BF2 install disc is
in the correct drive", and i know that it is. or more often what happens is
that the games start to run, and it goes to the black screen before you run a
game, and then it returns back to windows. i did a system restore, same
problems.

can anyone help me, i'm real puzzled about this one and i'm in desperate
need of some gaming time, it's summer :)

Hi Yoshiemaster,

Since that problem just started happening recently, try a System Restore.

How to use Windows XP System Restore:

Your drive letter might have changed. Check the letter and check your
shortcuts for the games. If it is the case, changing your drive letter
will be the solution.

Insert a disk into *_all_* your drives
Click Start\Admin Tools\Comp Management
Click Disk Management
Right Click on the drive you whose letter you want to change, choose
'change drive letter'
Click change and choose the letter

If the required letter is already taken, change that drive's letter first
