W2K Hangs at Boot
I haven't used my Dell Inspiron 3800 laptop in a few weeks, and the last
time I did, I believe it was to simply transfer some portfolio pieces back
and forth with my G4. Other than that, lately, the only time I would use the
laptop would be to get updates from Microsoft. And so I thought that it was
about time to get the latest, when I found that the W2K splash screen opens
but seems to hang after the progress bar gets to the end. Booting up in Safe
Mode also hangs. I can't seem to boot from either my W2K Pro CD-ROM, nor
from my Norton AntiVirus 2000 disc (should I hold down a certain key - other
than R?). And when I tried using my ERD floppy, it says that it is a
non-system diskette. Does anyone know what is going on here? And more
importantly, how do I fix it?
