Hello everybody;

I'm using XP Pro with Outlook 2000.
All e-mail attachments from a specific contact reach me as "winmail.dat"
files, no matter how I open them, either in Outlook or from webmail.
No other contact displays the same problem with me nor any other recipient
of the same e-mail experiences it, but me.
I could not solve this in any way.

I'd really appreciate help.

Regards.

There is nothing for you to solve - at least on your end. The *.DAT file is
a result of the email settings that the sender is using. It contains
formatting information for the text in their message. If your email client
can render that formatting, you get to see their composition with all of
the frills included. *.DAT files sometimes appear with cross platform
emails too (Mac mail sent to a PC, for example).

Thank you Sharon;

As a result, what can I do to open these attachments?

Shall I ask the sender to give me his settings or to change them to mine?

Thanks in advance.

If you are able to read his email message in your email program, you can
just ignore the *.dat file. Even if you took the time to open them, they
would just repeat what you were already reading.
