I have a HP1210v psc and cannot get the drivers to download. I spend hours
with HP's Tech help (cleaned registry for HP files, download from website,
reinstalled Windows Installer...etc..); I put in the HP cd-rom and everything
works fine until it tells me to plug in the USB cable to the pc. Then after
a minute or so I get a huge red X on the installer graphic, saying there is
an 'Unknown' problem. I downloaded HP's AIO Scrubber and that was no help
either. I then tried to install my Lexmark from my other PC.... same
thing... drivers won't load. I then did the ultimate and reinstalled Windows
XP... totally cleaned everything. I tried the install again.... didn't
happen... same exact problem. It's not the USB cables, they work fine with
other programs.

What am I and the Tech's at HP missing? Please help and thanks in advance.

Looks like you may be having USB port problems. Check them out with
some other USB device to see if they work. Also check the Device Manager
in Control Panel>LPT and USB ports.

"Byte",

I, too, am having the same problem as "destroyer". I am thinking it is a
driver problem & not a usb problem. Unfortunately, I am not a computer
person- just a nurse that wants the printer to work.
I have gone through all the steps I can find- perhaps I am unable to
communicate my situation well.

In destroyers initial post, it states that they cannot get the drivers to
"download". Do you mean from the Internet, or do you mean "install"?
There's a lot of difference between downloading and installing.
Do not connect the printer to the PC. Install the software first, during
which you will be prompted on when to connect it and when to turn it on.
Uninstall & reinstall Printer. Just deleting it does not uninstall it.

A little late, but here you are.

I have an HP PSC 750, a driver CD disk for XP.

a) The drivers would not install correctly without Microsoft's
Virtual Machine. (google)
b) Some software was missing from the HP download. (used the CD
disk)
