All I Get Is A Green-Loading bar when i try to install vista

When i try to install vista, all i get is the green loading bar after i boot
from the cd rom, any idea whats up with it?

How long have you left the PC with the green bar doing its thing? I've seen
it take a good couple of hours.
 
i left it about 30 mins i though it couldnt possbiley take longer then that!
so i should leave it on there for a couple of hours?

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.83GHZ)
1GB RAM
300GB Hard Drive (IDE) partitioned in to 2 by partition magic
160GB Hard Drive (IDE)
MS-6734
Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 (AGP)
Cretive SB Audigy (PCI)
