All the games I have tried to play crash after 10 min to 1 hour.
I have an ati 2900xt card with 7.9 drivers and soundmax onboard sound card
with Asus p5w64 pro board and Intel core duo 6700 cpu.
When they crash the system freezes and makes strange sounds.
Any help ?

Very much sounds like a heat problem. I had the same problem.
Play a game for about 5 minutes and then open up the case of your computer.
See if the fan on your ATI card is spinning. My bet is it isn't. These
fans are pretty cheap and burn out often. You should be able to find one on
ebay or something. I'm fairly sure its the card because other items that
don't use the 3d processor aren't locking your machine up

Another way to prove it would be to let the machine cool down. Then open it
up, put a house fan next to it and have it blow on the insides. Then fire
it up, and play. If it doesn't lock up, sure thing its the fan.

I agree with Mark, sounds like a heat issue. Make sure the fan on the card
is spinning up, if it is, you probably need better air circulation within
your case, so make sure all the case fans are working, probably best to have
at least an 80mm output, but you may find you need an 80mm intake fan too.

There may also be options within the BIOS to control fan speed, of the CPU,
and possibly the case fans too.
