Stumped 2003

I am using Windows 2000 Professional. Out of nowhere my
text is now displaying in italics. This happens in
Explorer, Word, Excel and most other areas.

I checked with my IT helpdesk and everybody is stumped.

We went through everything and cannot correct the problem.

Can anybody help me?

That's not kosher.
Sounds like somebody tarded you.
You won't find it your help files.
What was the last thing you installed or Updated?
Can you remember anyone else using the computer?
Are you on IM, ICQ, mIRC, etc. They have a lot of little turdung java programs
that are down right mean.
Wish I could help and take credit for it.

Damn, you're the kid Ijust got through asking to use a real nick.
How old are you?

don,

I'm no kid. Thanks for the feeback but we went through
all those scenerios. We went through the entire registry
and could not find any problems there either. This is my
machine at work and I only download MS and Adobe updates.
I think somebody may have deliberatley did something to
my machine when I was away from my desk. I know lock it
when I am away. I wish I was doing that before but you
would think you could trust people you work with.

You know waht Reagan said, "Trust but Varify"
If you have and ERD and full backup use it.
If you don't Backup all to external source
So that you can do a Clean Install.
Most people think it's terrible but if
you make an ISO with ghost after initial install
It takes about an hour and a half to get completely back running

Start now, get all the things that are important
that are small files out of the way and burn the data
and it together in a well organized manner
to find at any time.
..i.e
System Data
Drivers (MoBo Flash, Video Driver, etc.)
Fonts
Sounds
etc.
IE Data
Favorites
Address Book(s)
Email Templates
Text file(s) with settings, I.P. info, etc.
Drivers
each hardware item
My Documents
Aps
My Pictures
Adobe xxx
Virus Info

Did you check your Fonts to see if anyone has removed any?
Look to see if in fact someone may have removed some of
your font types

George,

Thank you for the info. I'll give it a try.

This can happen when your system fonts have been
corrupted. One in particular that can cause this is
MSMINCHO.ttf. Or the Sans Seriff fonts.
I would go to the command prompt with your Windows 2000
CD-ROM in the drive and type sfc /purgecache Now for some
reason my Windows 2000 SP4 does NOT do the sfc correctly
anymore with this switch. So if you get the same behavior
after this command type sfc /scannow. Check sfc /? for
help on what these switches do.
You can also try re-installing the Service Pack that you
are at but make sure you do this AFTER the sfc commands
above.wrote in message [email protected]...
