I updated from Win 98 to Win XP (FAT32 filesystem).
After doing so, the user profiles on my Win 98 system
have been emptied of files. All of the folders are there
(C:\windows\profiles\<user>\My Documents\<subfolder> all
still exist for example, but every file in every
subfolder is gone.

This is (obvious) disasterous. Please tell me I'm
missing something basic and can recover this!

Hi Rich,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with your system.
Please ask in the appropriate newsgroup. I suggest the
Windows / Windows XP / Setup and Deployment NG.

If it's easier, here's the direct link (or try XP General):

Good luck Rich. I hope everything works out for you! :-)
