All desk top icons when clicked start an install procedure!

Hi all
when I double click on any Icon on my desktop, microsoft money starts the install process. This happens when double clicking all icons on the desktop. My computer included. How do i fix this

I have a similar problem right now. Now whenever I double-click on a folder it doesn't open, but instead opens up a search window. Our problems sound very similar. So please anyone out there... HELP!!!
