All audio files play in fast forward

I run Windows 2000 at work - All audio files I play
through my machine play in "fast forward." - I have no
idea...I have done no modification. It did this straight
out of the box...
 
I solved this problem before by selecting a different
driver for my sound card, but now (after months) the
problem reappeared and this time i dont have a selection
of drivers to select from - only one driver installed.
I'll let you know if i find a solution.
