Any and everything about this windows is driving me to a
network funny farm. My old WIN98 was so perfect for me
and this new XP does not incorporate 98 like 98 did with
95. All my files were transferred over (not programs)
from my old harddrive and the old harddrive installed to
be used for storage along with the new harddrive? I
cannot access many of my old files or they are lost. All
my saved email folders are gone or for some reason won't
open. My tech. told me they are there -I just need the
programs that originally saved them? The only one I
found in my cd's was Microsoft works, but that doesn't do
it. I tried to open with notepad and explorer , acrobat
reader, and others. Nothing works. And this Omnipass
won't let me look at anything unless I put a password
in. I finally got that set up but i really don't want
this , whereever it came from. This new computer is set
up with XP and there is no changing it. None of the new
ones come with 98. My printer is not compatible either .
I know this is long, but I have wasted all my time since
Sep. 19th trying everything in this computer.

Eh? Stream of consciousness?

Perhaps you could take one or two deep breaths and enumerate your particular
problems calmly and logically and someone may be able to help!

It would be best to take the computer back to the tech and have him
install all your old programs. Be sure to find all the CDs before you
go.

What I do for people who want a new XP computer and had an old 9x
computer is take out the old disk and put it in the new computer and
setup a dual boot situation so they can still use their old 9x for any
programs that don't work or aren't yet installed on XP. This gives them
a chance to learn XP and do new stuff on XP while keeping their wheezy
old programs running on 9x. Eventually when everything is migrated, you
can remove the old 9x install and just use XP. Sweet.

Repost information on each problem you have and
specifically mention the type of file, what program
created it and when you try to open it with xp, the
results and messages.
