Aligning objects to guide lines

I am using Powerpoint 2000.

I import a lot of graphics and often want to centre these
on the slide. Normally objects click to the guide lines
and centre themselves automatically, but every so often
this locking seems to turn itself off, although the guide
lines are displayed.

How can I turn it back on again?

(I know you can turn off the locking temporarily by
pressing ALT while dragging, but mine seems to be turned
off permanently.)

Grateful for any help.

Open the Drawing Toolbar, click the "Draw" icon on the left hand side of the
toolbar and you'll find your answer.

Hi Simon,

In PowerPoint 2002 (aka PowerPoint XP) this is a fairly simple right click
option, so I will assume you are using 2000. Post back if I guessed wrong.

When an object or textframe is selected, click on the 'Draw' toolbar option
labeled 'Snap'. Make sure the 'Snap to Grid' is selected. The Draw toolbar
by default in PowerPoint 2000 is located in the lower left-hand side of the
Normal Edit window.

Others have answered your immediate question; here are a few ideas that go a
bit beyond:

Several ways of importing a lot of pictures into PPT at one go:

And our free PPTools Starter Set includes a tool that will automatically center
images (or anything else) on the slide for you with a single click of a button.
