how do I get to it??

XP says to do it this way but I cant seem to find it...

go to admin tools, click comp management, left panel click
sys tools, then click services, then in right panel click
alerter.

How do I get to this program??

MICROSOFT IS GIVING BAD DIRECTIONS!!

Do you really need it?

The Alerter service notifies users of administrative alerts on a network. This service usually is not required under normal circumstances. Note: This is NOT "WinPopUp."

Not sure where you saw these directions but to start any service, in
Administrative Tools, select the Services menu item. Locate the Alerter
Service and double click that item to make the configurations.

I need to get to the alerter service please tell me how,
the microsoft directions are incorrect! REMEMBER the
alerter service it is mentioned when I go to control
panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery settings,
then I try to uncheck restart under sys fails!

HELP
