Alert settings not saved

If i change some settings in options-settings-alerts.
After clearing a checkbox.
and then logged out and in again the checkboxes are all set again.
So i can't disable alerts for a non-experienced computer user.

I don't think it is possible to adjust any settings for Unlimited users in
Windows XP or 2000, please configure this in an Administrator account.

Even logged in as administrator the described settings are lost after logout
and login

Yes ofcourse

I tried to uninstall and deinstall and now it seems to keep the settings
after save
