Thursday? Details at http://uk.aldi.com/special_buys/productnl_312.html

TIA

It is a TV box, and not much for gaming. Anyone in the newsgroups, who
had an E4300, would want to overclock it. And with pre-built computers,
that is something that the BIOS is probably not set up to allow.

Perfectly good as a web surfing, Microsoft office box, email box. But
not a real powerhouse. The graphics card will see to that.

It should be real easy on power consumption. Which means as well, that
they will put a small power supply in it. If you try to expand the box
later, take a careful look at the power rating of that supply, as you
might have to upgrade the supply, at the same time as you change other
hardware. When computers are physically small, it also means there
will be more difficulty fitting a more powerful supply. So if you want
expansion in the future, find something roomy and sloppy. Small volume
boxes are not as easy to change later.

If Paris Hilton sold computers...

The graphics card is the latest generation of DirectX 10 cards. It is
however limited in the memory department. Its like a very fast car with a 1
gallon fuel tank!

8400GS is not much like a very fast car, it's GPU
performance is going to kill gaming framerates before the
memory would, and outside of games most people don't make
use of even 32MB per their chosen resolution.

Ahh - I thought it said 8600GS !

Unfortunately 8600GS isn't much better, the kind of card
that would leave a gamer wanting for a few more FPS in many
modern titles. It seems that in raw performance (beyond DX
feature sets) the 8600 series is a step backwards from 7600.
Either way I agree than if there's any gaming going on even
a budget card should have 256MB memory and 512MB more
reasonable for future use.

But for just 400 notes, with 2GB, 320GB and Core 2, any purchasers really
can't complain - corners have to be cut!
