Hello. Does anyone know what this company is about? I noticed that my slow
dial-up connection was being used when idle (through netstat) and I saw the
following:

a72-246-48-25.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com:http:ESTABLISHED

I did a search and read that it's either spyware or it's a legit caching
company.

Even if it's legit, is there a way to block from sending/receiving
information? It's slowing my Web activities down.

TIA!

It's about load sharing and distibuting updates for various software companies. The idea is
a company might not have sufficient server resources. Companies can use their services to
assist in their distribution of updates.

That's funny.

His AV signature files may indeed be downloaded Akamai services.
