after many disappointments about ATI
- did buy a rather expensive card which is outdated now (AIW7500)
- failure in holding the founded channels
- no respons to supportquestions @ ATI
- had to buy the cd with mmc8.1, so ATI suggested on the site to enable
upgrades
- found this ng, which is great, let's go on
- after installing the latest driver 3,9 and control panel 3,7 and NO mmc
and using ASUS Digital VCR
I paused for some weeks and had the courage the act the problem with a fresh
mind.

I'v installed mmc 8.7 which also didn't hold the founded channels
then I tried the quick search WITH antenna (I've cable, that's why I selcted
cable-search formerly)
and the founded channels did hold, even after closing tv and restarting
not all of my 44 (Holland) channels where found, only 7, but the channel
which is linked to my vcr,dvd and digital tv was found an dnow I'm able to
record in high quality.
of course this is in my case the solution, many users will not be able, I
think, I hope they will

***conclusion***
if ATI has balls
-anyway ATI has to do a re-engineer the mmc and
- make the tvtuner work for all users.
- when they have done so, all (registered) users (and users who has ordered
the cd mmc8.1) must be able to download the correct mmc version 9.0,
no 8.x versions anymore, it's cursed

greetings

Nick, it's usual with cable TV for only a few channels (in my case just the
one!) to be tunable; the rest have to be selected with the cable box. Are
you sure this is not the case with you? Additionally, you didn't have to
buy an ATi CD to use the latest Catalyst drivers and MMC 8.x: these are
available to download for free at http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html.
The CD is _only_ needed to validate the DVD player download/install.

hi Patrick,

when I let the tuner search exhaustive it finds all channels and I can
select them,
but when I close the tv-application and start the tv once again no steady
pictures are available
when I let the tuner search quick all channels will be held
yes strange, I know, irregular programming ATI-guys !

the cablebox you mentioned equals my digital decoder
cable-tv here in The Netherlands is a signal which is provided without a
cablebox, but yes by a wire from the wall into the antenna-input (not
digital) of the tv
but as an addition I've rented a digital cablebox, so nearly all my receives
are in dolby pro logic, but my tv (ac-3) and boxes makes it digital dolby
5.1
it'is just a matter of configuration of the hardware
to be clear :
I've a digital tv with 3 rgb inputs
one for gaming PS2

one to my digital decoderbox
one to my dvd/vcr combi player/recorder
both are linked with a rgb-cable

the wire (digital cable) has its input in the digital decoderbox antenna
input
the wire to the antenna-input from the tv comes from the dvd/vcr combi
my AIW has its source from the latter with a crossconnector
as a result, the AIW is able to receive all signals (cable, dvd, svhs,
digital cable tv)

yes I know about the cd, stupid me :(

thx4thinking with me

Sounds like you might be using an incorrect broadcast standard (i.e. the
different versions of PAL & SECAM), Nick. I'm using a VIVO now, so I'm not
sure where you select it on an AIW, but for me it's on the Video tab of my
Video In (eqivalent of TV app) preferences.

just PAL, but it comes with a digital wire in my house so I only have to
connect my AIW-antenna input
nut besides that I also can connect composite and s-video
ALL in ONE WONDER :)

it works at last
