All IN Wonder Pro
Acer computerr w/ AMD3500+
1G RAM
loads of disc space (<500G)

Problem
Using the software from install disc, schedualed record doesn't
(MMC9.08 )
Updating from the AMD/ATI site to MMC9.16 TV won't work at all
Updating WDM seems OK (other than having to re-realign the stations
again)

So...
What are the "best" versions to make this thing work as advertised?

Thanks

9.08 doesn't work with Guide+. It should work fine scheduling manually.

9.1X requires .net. The usual reason for 9.1x not working is the encoder not
installing correctly. Most people don't like using it because TVoD can only
be shut off with a registry hack.

IMHO 9.08 is the best for just an AIW unless you want to use Guide+ then
it's 9.06.1. Also 9.1X requires WDM drivers from Cat 12.3 or newer. If going
to an older version a cleaning should be done per ati.com/install

YOu mean they shipped it that way? oy.

How would I know if the encoder isn't installed properly?

Re .NET- It would have been nice if their installer had mentioned that

Roger that.

Thanks.. I'll go now and ruin more brain cells trying to get this
thing to dance...

More as I know more

If .NET wasn't installed that was your problem but may have caused the
encoder or other things to not install correctly. You could try uninstalling
the encoder, installing .NET, reinstalling the encoder and do a repair
install of MMC but cleaning and complete reinstall may be needed. CCC of the
newer Cat releases also requires .NET.

By hacking the Registry I mean using RegEdit to go in and change a setting
in one of the keys from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0(forget). Editing the Registry can
be dangerous but doing this one thing with explicit instructions from the
website is doable by most.

Dagnabbit!

I uninstalled using the ATI remover..
I cleaned out anything ATI in the registry
Removed all folders that even smelled like TV...

Went to the site and got the 9.6.1 MMC and what ever it came with
Installed them both (the WDM and the MMC)

It chewed for a few moments then asked me to reboot... Did that...
Nothing. No entry inthe StartUp Menue, no new folders created in
Programme Files.. Nada...

Y'know.. for the cost in time alone I could have just bought another
TV.
