AIW card video conversaion question

After I capture TV into .vcr format along with closed-caption,
how can I convert the video to another Windows friendly format,
eg. avi or mpeg or something else, so that the closed-caption
stays in the converted video? If you have done this, some detail
would be helpful.

Will the MMC "Library" component do it?

Why not just record to the desired format in the first place? I found
MMC's file player bloated and clunky, so I always just recorded as VCD
and played back, usually using VLC Player.

If using a Radeon AIW Library will do it. Older AIW probably won't have
Library.
Biggest reason to use .VCR is it retains Closed Caption. AFAIK nothing else
retains CC. Haven't really researched it though.

VCD isn't as high a quality as TV. Even half DVD(352X480) loses a little but
is a good match IMHO.

Bloated? I'd think for most TVoD is the main reason to have an AIW.

It sounds that you two are saying recording in VCD format would
actually record closed-caption with it. That would be good for
my need. But I couldn't do it with VCD format. Are you two
sure?
