OK, I got the TV out Video working, now the audio.

Can the SPDIF output be routed / converted... whatever .... to be plugged
into the composite right / left RCA audio inputs on a standard VCR / TV?

The D in SPDIF is for Digital. You'd need a digital to analog converter.
Easier/cheaper to put a phone to phono adapter on the speaker or line-out
of the sound card.
