This is a clean install on new Windows XP Pro dell 8200 desktop 512 mb ram,
with direct x 9b and latest windows media codex as mentioned on ATI driver
web page

all 6 or 7 driver dao catalyst remote dvd, etc. packages installed - no
probs shown in hardware-devices, all have the 6/23 date

use Grid to set up a tv record session

MMC crashes at record time with the "sorry must exit" box "do you want tell
Microsoft"

what a giant pain !

There's apparently no such group as alt.comp.periphs.videocard.ati, so I'm
resetting this to just alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati.

nope the "no tv" is supposed to be a PAL only (not NTSC) thing that dx9b
broke

That's true; it would also mean that you wouldn't be able to tune in any
channels in the first place - so you'd never get as far as trying to
schedule a recording.

What a huge pain.
I have installed and re-installed
3.6 / 8.1 / 8.5 and most combinations I can think of.

Down to one problem that will not go away.

Using Grid / Guide to set up recording sessions works fine.

Except the Ati scheduler crashes at the first appointed time to record.
(not the second time as was my previous problem).
Gives the usual "want to notify microsoft of the error" box. TV fires up
and comes on the screen but no recording begins.

Any ideas ?

Are there any third party recorder software packages that will let me lose
this ATI MMC junk ?
