AIW 9000 Problems circumvented

After much misery - uninstalls, reinstalls, etc of 8.5 and related
components, I gave up. I restored the system files and all the ATI
directories from my last full backup.. VOILA, TV returned. I'm on 8.1
on my XP system. Will not ever, ever update the MMC again.

in one of the RAGE 3d discussion boards an american NTSC user wrote it
happenend to him as well...

To my knowledge, it does only effect PAL. I just upgraded to DX9b without
consequence:AIW 9000 Pro, 8.1 mmc, 3.4 cat.
I attempted to install 8.5 mmc when I first installed the card (dl'd new
drivers [3.6, 8.5] before I installed the card). I had the same experience
as you, except that 8.1 and 3.4 wouldn't install either. I restored a Ghost
image of an earlier config (a basic config with just my most needed apps)
and was able to install 3.4 from the CD. Things have been fine since with
the exception of a few quirks here and there.
