The TV Tuner "prevents the computer from going into sleep mode." I
have installed the latest everything (with a little trouble) but it
still won't do it.
Anyone have a suggestion or is this just the way it is?
Sleep mode would be handy for me.

Just curious. Why would you want the computer to go to sleep while the TV is
being used? AFAIK it won't do a timed event in sleep mode.

Maybe I'm strange. The TV is on all the time, generally on CNBC. Of
course it usually won't turn off the display with the TV on either,
but I'd like to use every facility and it irks me when it doesn't
work.
BTW - installing MMC 9.1, I had to install a later Frameworks version.
Version not mentioned in instructions.

I'm in the habit of disabling sleep and standby modes. They seem to cause
problems. Guess I haven't tried them in W2k or XP though. I've had installs
on my AIW128Pro where I couldn't disable the screen saver. It's annoying as
h*ll. The computer doesn't know your watching unless you give it input. I'd
say not quitting is a feature not a bug. :)

By frameworks I guess you mean .Net. ATI makes lots of mistakes. If this
were the worst one we'd be in good shape. If your just installing it you
should have gotten the newest version. If not, Windows Update should have
told you it was available.
YMMV

It's not really important, but I think you have to sign up
specifically for the .net update stuff. It's not included in the basic
Windows auto update.
Just a note - this was probably the easiest and cleanest update I've
donw for the ATI stuff. They are getting better.

I think he wants it to go back to suspend or hibernate mode after a recording
is over with. All previous MMC versions prevent it from going back to sleep
and this is an issue for alot of us.The Tuner app can easily bring it out of
suspend mode but not allow it back to sleep.

Didn't know the scheduler could bring it out of a suspended state now
Haven't tried any of that for a long time. I'll have to look into it when I
get a chance. I thought he was saying he wanted it to go to sleep when the
TV was running. MMC 9.06 (at least) allows you to have MMC shut down after a
capture.....I'll be danged, you can tell it to shut down MMC after a
scheduled Watch TV. Sounds like the way to take care of that.

One more time, then I give up.
Always looking to do something different!
If I leave the computer with the TV on, I'd like it to go into sleep
mode after a period of time (30 mins maybe.) Or maybe hit the sleep
button on the keyboard. Maybe it will be overnight. Then have it start
up quickly with just a touch.
Don't do much capture.
Not sure what to do about the external HD (USB) that has a different
power source.
Just trying to have it start faster than it does now.

Cool, i stand corrected. I had retired my old original 32mb Radeon All in
Wonder to a gaming rig for the kids and hadnt tried the TV capabilities in a
while. We have DirecTV and a DirecTV Tivo box so the computer and VCR sees
little use when it comes to tv recording.

I have the AIW 9000 also. I am just confirming what you have already said.
My pc will not go into sleep mode while the TV is on.

I have an AIW 9700 and it too, will not go into standby/sleep mode when the
TV is on.
