AIW 7500 TV Problem

One day a couple of months ago I opened up MMC and viewed TV only to see a
scrambled picture. After uninstalling and installing several different
versions of MMC I still cannot get a clear picture. The picture looks like
what you get from cable on a unsubscribed channel.

I've checked the cabling and I get a good picture going directly to a TV. I
even went so far as installing WinXP in another directory and installing MMC
8.6 but still no luck.

Sounds like I must have a bad tuner but that just seems strange to me. It is
able to retrieve the channel name and display that.

Any ideas out there?

Sounds like your broadcast standard (i.e. NTSC, PAL, SECAM) may be set
wrongly.

This is weird, because I'm having similar problems with my 7500 AIW tuner!!

I get an overly-bright picture, and then the brightness goes back to what
one might perceive to be "normal"...for a few moments...and then it
flares-up again and goes overly-bright.

I would suspect that we both might have tuner problems. I'm processing an
RMA as we speak. If anyone has suggestions beyond having to get an RMA from
ATi, please speak-up!

Yours sounds a bit like a Macrovision problem, Scott. ATi seem to have set
detection for it to be far too sensitive in some cases, and the Macrovision
protection can activate on non-protected material.

Don't have any URLs to hand, but if you search this group and Rage3D forums
for Macrovision, you should come up with something.
