AIM and Hibernation

I just recently got a new computer with XP. Everytime it hibernated and I came back, it was at the welcome screen where you choose what user to log on as. And when i clicked on my name, AOL Instant Messenger was no longer on, even though i had left it with an away message up. I thought I fixed this when I unchecked the welcome screen option on the screen saver preferences, but this did nothing. How do I fix this problem so that when I leave my computer for a while, it won't automatically sign me off AIM?

Sounds like AIM is not supporting hibernate. Check for an upgrade from AOL,
and check the settings within AIM. Otherwise, if neither of those pans out,
your only alternative is to stop using hibernate.

If you hibernate it turns the computer right off, just as if you had
shut down: it just makes a faster way to start up again. So as far as
AIM is concerned (or other Internet services) it is as if you had pulled
the power plug and disconnected - and they will shut down the
connection, signing you out.
