OK, my computer currently has vista on it but it cannot boot due to the fact
that I have a few missing drivers( Don't ask me how it's missing, I did not
delete anything!) and I want to restore Windows XP. The computer manufacturer
has placed the restore on a second partition of my hd and I for some resaon
cannot press f4 to initiate it. I have restored my computer a few times
before vista and it always works. Any can help?

TA--

From your incomplete post you leave me guessing but I'm not a bad guesser so
here's what I guess:

---I'm guessing that if we can fix Vista this reduces/eliminates your need
to put XP on that box--am I right?

---Your computer does not have or does have XP in some volume on it?

---I am guessing only Vista is on the box.

---I am guessing that you are referring to one of the entities I pound more
than the "Southern Lebanese Syrian Irainian pulling the strings border";
the OEM restore partition.

---I am guessing you are likely to have fallen into the greedy MSFT OEM
partnership "screw the 500 million OEM" desktops trap and don't have any
kind of full fledged XP CD.

Here are some possible alternatives I can carve out--let us know what you
have or if I'm correct:

I *TA fixes Vista*

Assuming that if TA could fix Vista, this would eliminate the desire to put
XP on the box--that entails using Startup Repair or one of the other
components of the Windows Repair Environment--so called Win RE:

If you have a Vista DVD, there is a promising "feature" or utility in Vista
called Win RE or Windows Recovery Environment.

***Accessing Windows RE (Repair Environment):***

1) Insert Media into PC (the DVD you burned)

2) ***You will see on the Vista logo setup screen after lang. options in the
lower left corner, a link called "System Recovery Options."***

3) Select your OS for repair.

4) Its been my experience that you can see some causes of the crash from
theWin RE feature:

You'll have a choice there of using:

1) Startup Repair
2) System Restore
3) Complete PC Restore

II *TA Installs Win XP*

If you wanted to put on XP:

1) If you had an XP CD, you could download and use free Ranish and you could
make another partition and then make it into a volume with XP by setting up
XP and formatting it, then you could format the Vista volume by typing
diskmgmt.msc into the XP run box>right clicking it>format from XP.

I'm assuming you don't have a 3rd party partition maker so I'm suggesting
you use Ranish to do this:

http://www.ranish.com/part/

Ranish is free and quite effective.

Good luck,

CH
