One of the MOST annoying and stupid things I've seen done in a while is the
annoying little yellow bar that appears...click here to install the activex
control, instead of the standard security box most users had grown
accustomed to. Is there any way in HTML or JS to force the browser back to
the old method of prompting. That **&^()* bar has increased our tech
support calls almost 500%.

I hope not. That would mean Web pages could turn it off.

That's the whole point! And it's not to turn it off....read my original
post. I want the OLD security box back. That yellow bar is too often
missed! It's one of the most hairbrained things MS has done in a while.

Hi Peter,
The information bar was deliberately added in Windows XP SP2 to help protect
users from inadvertent installation of software. Studies have clearly shown
that it is possible for a page to trick someone into clicking Yes to a
dialog that is shown and some users do not heed the warning message of such
a dialog and simply click Yes quickly to make the thing go away. The addtion
of the information bar means that users must take an additional and very
contious step before installing software. It is important that users
understand the implications of installing software on their computers and do
not install anything from a source that they do not trust.

Thanks
-Dave
