I have a P 4 3.0 gig computer with an AGP port. I am running an ABIT
IC7-max 3 motherboard and my AGP card is a Geforce 3. I want to update
the AGP card to what ever or who ever has the best one for my
system...I will not upgrade the motherboard again until we get more
from Microsoft on Vista reqiurements. ATI (model?) NVIDIA (model?).
Any ideas?

How much are you looking to spend? What do you use your computer for
Since your card is an older one, I'm assuming you're not heavy int
gaming
You can spend from $50 to $350 and Nvidia vs. ATI really depends o
the models

I would like to do some gaming...So, I want the best right now for
gaming and overall features!!

Best AGP are the nVidia 6800GS cards, AFAIK...

Try the 7800 GS CO. I have one and love it.. AGP still rules.. Till I get
rich and can afford a new computer..

Recommend against nVidia if planning to use DVI. Their DVI drivers suck
big time. Fail to enumerate if handshake is lost..... requires system
restart.

"DVI drivers" are required? Pardon my ignorance, since I've only
built one PC with a DVI-connected LCD, but I don't recall any special
drivers being needed. I plugged things together and they just worked.
Obviously, I installed the latest nVidia drivers after Windows was
running...

What could cause loss of handshake? Is this really something to be
concerned about?

I don't often recommend ATI, because of their abysmal Linux support.
Anyone thinking of trying Linux should head straight to nVidia.
