I have assembled a computer using a Gigabyte motherboard
with 8X support, Video Card with 8X support. When I view
the video adapter the OS indicates 2X, motherboard and
video adapter show 8X. The performance is indicative of
the lower speed. Anyone have suggestions?

If the performance is really much slower than it should be there is another
problem... AGP really has become one of those things that has just become
silly... The original idea of AGP was to allow for the GPU to directly
access and utilize the system memory for storing anything but the frame
buffer, but given that graphics cards these days feature a large amount of
on-board memory which is usually much faster than the system memory, this
ability is used in only a handful of games... In todays market it really
shouldn't matter a bit whether you've got AGP2 AGP4 or AGP8 for your video
card, it has just become a big marketing scam.
