again: xp won't read a font file as a font file

I am trying to install a font (Whimsy) from my old computer into my new one that runs Xp. But when I get to the Install New Font window and enter the correct drive, under List Of Fonts it reads "no fonts found."
We just got this computer and really need this font to finish some of the work we have started. Please help!
