Go to Start > Run and in the dialog box type 'msconfig' (without the
quotes), then click OK. Go to the Startup tab. These are other programs that
start with Windows. Do you see an entry for the Winnt folder? If so, you
need to remove this by editing the registry. Caution: Registry editing
allows no room whatsoever for error. Before editing the registry, always
create a restore point.
Go to Start > Run and in the dialog box type 'regedit' (without the quotes.)
You need to find the Run keys. Look here for help:
"A Definition of the Run Keys in the Windows XP Registry"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314866&Product=winxp.
One of the sub-keys will contain the reference to your winnt folder. Delete
that subkey ONLY. Now quit the registry editor and re-start your computer.
If you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with registry editing, ask a trusted
(and knowledgeable) friend to do it for you.
