After SP2 install.. can't get to several favorites

After installing SP2, I can no longer get to about 4 of my favorites in IE6
(also can't get there in firefox so this is an SP2 issue). I get the
error... The operation timedout when attempting to contact.... These are
normal sites .. www.scottrade.com is one. I can ping the url .. I have
tried both the name and the numbers to no avail. I have a second computer
on the same router (win 2000) and it gets to these sites with no problem.
Any suggestions??

Nope, same problem when I remove the router and just plug into the cable
modem. I flushed my dns.. no help.. Looked at my hosts file.. even added
one to it with no avail.. I disabled the firewall that sp2 put in and still
the same.. It looks like the browser is getting to the site but gets no
response.. maybe it isn't asking the right question ?? ;-)

OK, I had done these before and now I have done them in the order you
suggested. Sorry that it didn't work.. One change is that I can ping
www.scottrade.com which I could not do before... however, when I try to
reach it in my browser, it times out while connecting ...

At first I thought that nothing had changed, but there is now one site that
I can access. The others still time out. Don't know if it was changing the
name of HOSTS or one of the others... slow progress..
