Hi,

I recently updated XPe to SP2 then FP2007.

Anyone seen ANYTHING like this. If I do any kind of boot screen, custom or
standard, on shutdown my video goes out of sync with the monitor.
On multi-sync monitor the shutdown screen is visible. If I specifiy
"/noguiboot" in boot.ini with no other switches video will stay in sync on
shutdown.

If I add /bootlogo to display a custom splash, it will also go out of sync
on shutdown.

Hmmm...

Thanks

Mark

Replying to my own post as future reference for fixing this problem:

This issue is now corrected. I found it related to the video driver for a
Geode LX graphics hardware for EPIC motherboard from Ampro. The RB620.
The most recent driver did not correct the problem. Actually this can be for
almost any MB that uses this chipset!

The other parts of the equation is using the Standard PC HAL in the image
with a system that has non-ATX power supply and certain BIOS, such as Award
and AMI. Some systems such as those using Insyde XpressRom BIOS will not
exhibit the problem.

The video out of sync on shutdown occurs only if there is a splash screen
displayed on boot. If /noguiboot is added to boot.ini and /bootlogo is not
used, the shutdown will occur properly. This probably why there aren't more
postings in regard to this issue. That and the other half are using an ATX
PS with ACPI enabled.

Final fix on my end was to disable the Geode Video Driver in TD and add the
Video Upgrade Device to the image. This component provides the greater
resolutions 800 X 800 and higher for video. Unfortunately the resolution
settings in TD for this component does not take after FBA. This will have to
be done manually.

I've seen a handful of posts on this issue, hope this helps someone in
future.
